City of Cards C4.18: HERE!
If you think Plato's being a bit harsh here, I'm not going to say you're wrong. Not every aspect of these guys' relationship is perfect, and it's far from simple.
I am currently at the airport and my way towards Vermont for the summer. Updates will go just as normal. Also, congrats to the Center for Cartoon Studies class of 2013! I look forward to seeing all your amazing work in person!

City of Cards C4.16-17: HERE!
This has really been the section where honestly, there was no good way not to have only a single page update for a good long while. Oh, and yes, that means that this section is now over. Next week, something very different but very familiar.
For the last, I don't even know, two months or so I've also been DEEP in a secondary comic project that is coming to an end. It's also a project that I can't share online because of many reasons, one of which is that I am not the writer, second of which there's been little to know firm agreement on what I can or can't share. So, well, there you go.
Here's a quick something I did while playing around in photoshop, took part of the first panel of page nineteen and made a nice portrait:

City of Cards C4.14-15: HERE!
Relatively happy with how these pages came out, sorry for the weird screen formatting though.
I also have to get another eight pages of comic done in a very short period of time, finished hopefully completely with no more edits by the 15th, which also happens to be the day I leave for Vermont for four months. There was also a bit of a family emergency this past week that ate into productive time so I'm scrambling to get caught up.
So, um, sorry if I've been a little (unbelievably) stressed and short. Here's a couple of sketches from this previous week.

City of Cards C4.12-13: HERE!
Back when I was in high school I used to be in a parapsychology club and we went ghost hunting (only once). Needless to say, we didn't find anything remotely resembling the ghosts in my comic. As far as my own beliefs on ghosts, I think ghost stories are fun. I don't tend to go beyond that.
Hey guys, it's been a kind of long week for personal family reasons and I really haven't thought up much of a blog post.
I've been trying to get myself to do more design type illustrations as well, as it's something I tend to enjoy. Here's a work in progress I've been playing around with:

City of Cards C4.11: HERE!
Not much to write about this week. I'm trying to get ready for my summer in Vermont and I'm way behind on a lot of stuff. I've got a lot of drawing to do not just on City of Cards, but on a collaboration comic as well. I'm almost done with the pencils for that, but it's definitely crunch time.
I've got a work in progress sketch for a piece that you can see by voting here.

Sketch Dump and Four Tales
City of Cards C4.10: HERE!
I love this page. There are times when I wish I could say more about what I'm doing with this story, what these pages mean, and what I hope I'm trying to accomplish with various scenes. Really, there's no way I could even begin to talk about what's happening here in these scenes without ruining the entire story, so what it comes down to is the hope that not only will this pay off, but that in the meantime it makes some amount of sense.
Yay comics.
Oh, and here are some sketches from this past week as well as an updated panel from Chapter Two, including my ask sketches:
FOUR TALES
Speaking of which, sometimes I find a comic that completely blows me away. Four Tales is one of them. It's nearing its completion, and right now is a perfect place to catch up on the mystery.
Four Tales consists of four (sort of, but it's best to read to know why the number isn't exact) short horror stories. The combination of suspenseful storytelling and beautiful hatched illustration that reminds me of Edward Gorey does a great job of creating a kind of storybook feel to the pages.
It's really awesome to see an artist so aware of their own work in such a way that they can marry their narrative style and goals and their visual aesthetic in such a way that puts effect first and foremost. That to me is a sign of a great work.
So yes, read this. I hope she'll consider making it into a complete physical book at some point. It's too good otherwise.

City of Cards C4.9: Here!
As of this Saturday, City of Cards will have reached its two year web anniversary. I always say I never really know when to celebrate the beginning of this project.
So, where do I see this comic in two years? I guess I'll be working on Chapter Six or Seven at that point. Beyond that, who knows. The only thing that's remained a constant thus far is the weekly page updates, which I think is good enough for now.
The only other thing in the works is the side story I've been working on in the background for a couple of years now. I have no desire to rush it, but I hope that by the end of this year I'll be starting pages for that as well.
Thanks to everyone that's been reading and supporting me these past two years and next week I promise I'll throw up some sketches and stuff.
